Molecules

by Leszek Czuchajowski
(translated from Polish)

.....................................

Molecules converse among themselves
on the first day of spring:
People don't notice us.
They know well that God created Eve
but they don't know a thing about us.
They ponder her seduction by a fallen angel
and if Gilgamesh rejected Aphrodite
when she made love with a stallion.
Did she have at that time a whip, spurs
of gold and a snaffle?
And yet they know nothing about us
we are dead to them and they are blind
to so many things we are dreaming.
